Welcome to the Power of Community Solar

Here at 64Solar, we have developed a Community Solar Program that allows virtually any business, regardless of the building that it’s in, access to all the benefits of going solar. Here are just a few.

Don’t own your building? No problem. Community Solar allows households to tap into a local shared solar farm and see savings on their electric bill. You don’t need to own your building (or rooftop) to participate–anybody with an electricity bill should be eligible, including renters, small businesses, or those with a roof unsuitable for solar. 64Solar is working to bring the benefits of solar to as many businesses as possible.

Skip the installation. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) estimates that 49% of buildings aren't suitable for solar installation due to the roof’s orientation, shade, or structure. In addition, many business owners don’t necessarily want to go through the process of finding a contractor, finding the right panels, and installing them on their roof. Others simply can’t afford the upfront investment.

No upfront costs. Here at 64Solar, we basically create community solar farms and allow others to more or less subscribe to solar power that they couldn't access otherwise. With a solar subscription, you don’t have to buy the panels. Instead, you subscribe to the electricity they produce–and at a discounted rate relative to your utility provider. This means that you don’t need to worry about any upfront costs.

Cheaper utility bills. Our community solar subscribers get a direct discount on their electricity bills, usually by about 5-15%! Plummeting solar costs are helping make this possible, but state and federal incentives are also important. As well as pricing agreements between 64Solar and your utility.

Discover energy independence. Rooftop solar allows businesses to produce their own energy, while community solar brings the same benefits to smaller businesses and renters. Both are forms of energy independence allowing you to rely less on global energy markets and protecting your business from unstable energy prices and supply disruptions.

Create less pollution. Pollution is a direct effect of our reliance on fossil fuels. Their emissions contaminate local water sources, leading to potential health problems. They also harm the economy and the natural world by destroying ecosystems. Fortunately, solar panels and community solar help build a network of clean energy resilience that multiple businesses can partake in.

Support your local economy. Fossil fuel production processes are heavily mechanized and need less and less human input every day. Solar and other renewables require real, live humans for planning and installation–and they always will. It's a growing source of sustainable employment for millions and growing.

Help stop climate change. The science is clear: fossil-fueled CO2 emissions are causing our planet to warm at an accelerating rate–and the consequences of man-made climate change cannot be overstated. Our way of life is increasingly threatened by rising sea levels to extreme weather patterns and unpredictable crop yields. The time to act is now and community solar is yet another simple, low-impact way to make a difference.
